Peter DuMans

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden and untimely passing of
Peter DuMans.

Friends and family are welcome to attend a gathering in Peter's honour at

Pulse Gallery in Johnston Terminal at The Forks.
The gathering will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 27.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Peter's memory may be made to a Winnipeg animal shelter of your choice.

Until recently, Peter had been better known as a metal sculptor. With the hands of a craftsman and the eye of an artist he drew on natural and cultural imagery over which he cut, hammered, burnt, and burnished to create a physical and sensory experience. He adeptly contemporized these folk art themes into a three dimensional, multi media narrative.

With the same emotional intensity and aesthetic quality Peter had honed a bold painting style that highlighted his perennial imagery using dramatic colour and daring lines. Peter, not one for ambiguity or subtlety and with five decades of experience he still had not identified his artistic limits.

Peter was a member of the Manitoba Society of Artists. His work graces both private and corporate collections as well as solo shows.

Cindy Dyson

VJ's, 30" x 36" acrylic

"I am greatly influenced by the European Impressionists.Their sensitive offerings physically and emotionally connect me to their 19th century world. My application of paint does not result in realistic representation. Rather, I am satisfied with a rough familiarity and mood of subject. My goal is to present an intriguing balance of roughness and tenderness; boldness and vulnerability, representation and expression."

Garry Budyk

Garry Budyk is a nature and wildlife photographer, birder and naturalist from Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Garry has a passion for the diverse landscapes of Manitoba, ranging from the dramatic skies and vistas of the prairies, to the rugged wilderness of the Canadian Shield, to Manitoba's "inland seas".

Prairie Two-Track, Pierson, Manitoba

We see a connection to the history of Manitoba in his photographs of old barns and prairie grain elevators, inviting viewers to relive memories and revisit their own family histories.

The Old Red Barn, Wampum, Manitoba

Great Gray Owl, Bird River, Manitoba

“I strive to create images that take a step beyond being simply “beautiful pictures” (and I daresay there are unlimited opportunities to find said beauty in Manitoba!). What I attempt to create are images that catch the viewer's eye, draws them into the scene and makes a connection to their own life experience. Smiles and good memories of sitting by a rushing waterfall … Grandpa's old barn … hearing the crunch of autumn leaves as you walked that path through the forest … that little owl you found roosting in your backyard. Beautiful photos yes, but hopefully so much more.”

Autumn Trail, Birds Hill Provincial Park, Manitoba

Grain Exchange Building, Winnipeg, Manitoba

Black and white continues to be an important part of Garry's work.  Architectural gems in Winnipeg's Historic Exchange District, old prairie grain elevators and monochromatic renderings of the natural world are some of the main themes Garry presents in black and white.

Garry's" Images of Manitoba” grace homes and businesses worldwide, showcasing the beauty of Manitoba to audiences around the globe.

Vast, 24" x 24" framed acrylic & glass by Kathleen Black

Art is about light and time.
Dawn light travelling over the day becoming moonlight.
So we grow and change
Things that are transparent become opaque
Really, it is all about time.
The time of day, time of life, how little or great the time.

Pate de verre leaves by Kathleen Black

Kathleen's primary interest involves the exploration of time as depicted by light as it travels throughout the day and seasons. Her people and landscapes all speak to this interest in our limited time here.  Kathleen’s work is in collections across Canada and as far away as Australia.
