WATERCOLOURS BY WINNIPEG ARTIST, WAYNE PURVIS
Wayne is a renaissance man…his studies envelop a wide range of disciplines. Of fundamental importance to him is the ability to achieve a well-balanced physical, emotional, and intellectual life while leaving as small an environmental footprint as possible.
His paintings represent characteristics of both the busy world that surrounds us every day as well as a world in which we are allowed to enjoy a more relaxed existence. They attempt to capture and freeze the subtle changes that occur moment to moment, every day in our urban environments. They very rarely depict a specific place but are a compilation of many. Wayne’s effective use of perspective adds depth to his work, evoking mood and drawing the viewer in, hoping to transport them into the shadowy, sunlit, or rain-drenched scenes.
