Drawing came naturally to me.  I liked to draw and by age six I was copying cartoon characters.   Encouragement and financial means to pursue this talent were lacking, and my interest in art was not really ignited until Grade Nine when I took an art class in school.  I gradually began to paint independently using oils and continued doing this intermittently until 1978 when I enrolled for art lessons at the Forum Art Institute under the tutelage of Nikola Bjelajac.

Nikola was a tremendous influence.  He exposed me to a huge variety of styles and subject matter and encouraged me to move from Realism to Abstract.  I continued learning under Nikola's guidance for thirteen years.  During this time, I changed mediums from oil to acrylic.  Although I have been exposed to and experimented with a wide variety of mediums, Acrylic remains my favourite.

Eventually I enrolled in the Fine Arts Program at the University of Manitoba and completed my Fine Arts Degree in 1992. That year, I began teaching Acrylic Art Classes at the Forum Art Institute and have continued to do so ever since.
